Packraft Comparison
Packrafts come in many different shapes and sizes, and you want to make sure that you choose the right raft for the type of paddling that you plan to do.
Here are some characteristics and situations to consider before deciding on the boat that's right for you:
- The type of water that you'll be paddling (calm water to whitewater)
- The types of trips you'll be doing (day-trips, multi-day camping trips, backpacking trips, day trips to the lake, boat in the back of your camper)
- Who you would like to have on your boat (child, dog, partner)
- How light you would like the boat and how you'll transport it?
- Type of floor (self-bailing or not) and spray decks options
OUR BOATS:
PIKA: 1-person raft. Our smallest raft that is specifically designed for day trips and short paddling adventures. This boat is a great entry-level option if you're new to packrafting and want a super-light inflatable boat to bring to the beach or lake or for a float down an easy river, or for a float in an alpine glacier lake. Great option for petite folks, older kids and teenagers. Recommended for flat water.
OSPREY: 1-person raft. Most versatile boat and fits most people well. The removable spray deck will keep you snug and dry when paddling. This packraft allows an open boat configuration, by removing the spray deck, with ample room for a small kid (or dog) for paddling on lakes and ocean. Recommended for flat water.
ORCA: 1-person raft. With the capacity to hold a lot of weight, and cargo inside and on top of the raft, the Orca is the perfect choice for multi-day adventure trips, hunting trips and camping trips. The self-bailing floor helps water flow through the boat in white water but also means that a dry-suit is required. Recommended for mild white water.
KODIAK: 2-person raft. This boat is engineered to carry multiple people or heavy loads such as camping equipment, a bike or a large game animal. With the capacity to hold a lot of weight, and cargo inside and on top of the raft, the Kodiak is the perfect choice for multi-day adventure trips and for people who want to share a packraft. The self-bailing floor helps water flow through the boat in white water but also means that a dry-suit is required. Recommended for mild white water.
CHINOOK: 2 or 2.5 person raft. This multi-person packraft is great for adventures for couples, families, or friends. This boat can be used both as a canoe-style and kayak-style boat, depending on the seating arrangement that you choose and the leg length required for each person. Recommended for flat water.
